Magida & Boyd — August 2026

Kenneth Boyd and Sarah Magida traded art and words. Sarah shared this image, titled “Beginning of Knowledge,” with Kenneth:

a quilt of many colors depicts a pile of intertwined serpents

In response, Kenneth wrote this poem

Liturgy for an Inconvenient Truth

Deception’s brethren spread mumbling illusions
Confounding their claims by bundling illusions

In their pit of half-truths no reforms were allowed
Their hunger conjured by grumbling illusions

With addictions to grandeur, laced with impatience
Mystic serpents stirred in plundering illusions

But then came our soft voices of graceful intent
Preferring reform for tumbling illusions

In our kingdom we planted a secret garden
In a mythic time of humbling illusions

With their blue to our pink they withheld our portion
Blurring a glimpse of their crumbling illusions

Our young brood was rising with hope for an escape
Though mutinous ways are stumbling illusions

The balm of wisdom provided our ablutions
Yet reptiles poisoned our rumbling illusions

Kenneth shared this poem with Sarah:

Dame im Sessel, Schreibend (Lady Writing in an Armchair)

After Gabriele Münter (France, 1929)

I sat with hope for your cautious letter
Letter never found in my plague of dreams,
Dreams only dreamt to wash my love with tears
Tears to sprinkle the land of swelling seeds
Seeds uncovered where swollen life is found
Found by you like a tribute of our time
Time that lured me to the questions of leaves
Leaves enlightened and bathed in soft half-light
Half-light to face our riven awareness
Awareness, like the last sight of the blind
Blind in the night of your wordless absence
Absence of cries for the earth’s risen reign
Reign that allowed the earth’s coming resolve
Resolve of kings smitten by caretakers
Caretakers boded augured our coming journey
Journey as the trees and skies roared as one

In response, Sarah made this image, titled “Chasing Another Matriarchy” (click to enlarge):

a painted globe of blue and white with a snake and a figure, along with a number of words and sketches, including "there was a woman sitting in a chair waiting. finally she was done"
