About TLE

The Light Ekphrastic is a quarterly online journal dedicated to the creation of new written and visual artworks through collaboration between artists.

For each issue, writers and artists will be paired, each creating a new poem, story, photograph, painting or other piece of artwork inspired by work previously submitted by their partner artist. Contributors typically have about 6 weeks to create their new work.

All content is and remains the property of the artist who created it.

The Light Ekphrastic was founded by editor Jenny O’Grady in 2010 as a way of inspiring friends who hadn’t written or made art in a while to get back into practice. It has since grown to attract contributors from all over the world, and to include occasional forays into public spaces beyond the web.

We have small, but devoted, steering group — Marlayna Demond, Meredith Purvis, and Melissa Cormier — who helped with preparations for The Light Ekphrastic‘s 10th Anniversary in 2019 and 2020, and continue to be a source of support for TLE pretty much every single day.

I am an artist, I do printmaking, but also experiment with other forms of art.
    I would love to participate!

      Hi Lorraine,

I’d love it if you’d participate! Do you have pictures of your art? If you send me some in the next week or so, there’s still time to be in the February issue. 🙂

i had a total disaster with this project; after creating a painting from the submitted poem the author decided, with no given reason, to withdraw the poem and the publisher decided not to publish either. Beware this might happen to you.
