Riesner & Wiezorek – February 2024
Jan Wiezorek and Thomas Riesner traded art and words. Thomas shared this image, titled “To Hurt,” with Jan:

In response, Jan wrote this poem:
Upright
Along the creek
they’ve cut branches
so we twist torsos
& look down
over water—
but here in the yard
a foliate gaze forces us
sinking—
eyes of our spirit blink
pink & wet
& we simply say
we can’t—
to hurt—
tho some branches
graft their spines
to our bones—
they ravel
our wrongs
& right
us up

Jan shared this poem with Thomas:
Pairing

& its variable shade.
Cloud of stone rests

but as saga of one
who passes to another
not a weight but fluorescence
so clear, so marvelous children
are lulled in laneways by fragrances,
the meeting points of leaves,
replicating mementos, negative
spaces joining positive forces,
& the lone hand stroking its pairing.
In response, Thomas made this image, titled “Battle”:
