Hybridity
The city’s map fruited
in luscious tropical hues
—lime and avocado,
tangerine and dragon fruit—
and just enough spongy pith
to connect these disparate essences.

I’ve seen her—
lethal-looking, of course.
Her knowledge, her skill, her scowl
could come in handy.
