Greber & Kraft — November 2024
E Kraft and Dave Greber traded art and words. Dave shared this untitled image with E:

In response, E wrote this poem:
Under the Fluorescent Lights
a ghost scurries across the linoleum,
darting between the desks,
his tiny heart pounding,
an intruder in a world of spreadsheets
and muted conversations
he pauses,
nose twitching,
scanning the labyrinth of chairs and cables,
even scoring a crumb amongst
the remnants of forgotten lunches
indifferent,
the clock ticks on
unaware of this small disruption
in its symphony of clicks and whispers
over deadlines and quarterly reports
the pulse of life throbs in his tiny paws
as he disappears back into the shadows:
a reminder that survival dances
in the margins of our carefully crafted chaos
even while turning another page in time

E shared this poem with Dave:
Through the Graveyard
under twilight’s breath, shadows whisper forgotten dreams
while the puffy-eyed moon leans upon my shoulders,
her soft cry drifting into a waltz with the midnight mist.
my ancient heart beats to the rhythm of lost years and strums out names
through a hollow drum, calling to phantoms of what once were,
trying to ignore the shards of eternal silence echoing back.
I am both the mourner and the ghost, bound to the sorrowful refrain,
a song that never quite ends as time plays its violin inconsolably,
each note a reminder of a life that slipped away too soon.
the night enfolds me into her somber velvet coat, trying to soothe
the restless spirit wandering through the dim-lit cemetery of forgotten yesterdays,
eternally searching for answers that never were and never will be.
