Halgren & Gunn – May 2013

Kirk Halgren and Gregory Gunn traded art and words. Kirk shared this panoramic photo, “Clear Sound,” with Gregory (click image to enlarge):

My Back Yard

In response, Gregory wrote this poem:

Parallactic Vision II

Sweet mourning, for all eternity
have you occupied the same sphere?
Until now I failed to comprehend
at first the solemn slope of the cranium,
or the easy-going sinister eyes.

En route to finally relegate
my innermost lines of ecstasy
into your shady queue I sought you —
but you always enticed me, then
away you faded from view, far into
the mind-numbing ravines of your
interim love which lay for you,
as for me, in the neighbourhood
of complacent melancholy.

That bird of paradise on the wing
was yet another unparalleled deceit,
boosted again our bounding sanguinity
by providing efficient evidence so that
all see this sphere as counterfeit.

Gregory shared this poem with Kirk:

Nimbus

Solar corona, lunar aura:
     fervour and apathy—
shedding light on
time of the year;
surrounding or empowering,
terra firma, burnt firmament,
the canticles of wind
and precipitation,
cycles oscillating.
Musical movements
within the bizarre chaos
of global infringements,
fissures in space from
     supernovas,
and melodious quarks
     defying gravity—
a lullaby of logic.
Trumpet vines climb,
wind through staff, stave and clef.
Barriers mix into audio
envelopes. Transmuted
charges rejecting
white noises of rhetoric,
dunderhead erroneous
reads from fixed stars,
crystallized nocturnal
highlights and Utopia.

In response, Kirk created this photo collage, entitled “Nimbi:”

NIMBUS
